StorePeek

StorePeek collects no data. Everything it does happens inside your browser, on your device. There is no account, no server, and nothing is ever uploaded.

What StorePeek does

StorePeek is a Chrome extension that identifies the theme, storefront apps, tracking pixels, payment methods and public catalog stats of a Shopify store. When you open the panel and run a scan, it reads the publicly visible content of the page you are currently viewing — the script addresses, page markup, and public JavaScript values the store itself exposes to every visitor — and compares them against a list of known signatures bundled inside the extension.

That comparison happens entirely on your device. The extension has no backend.

Information we collect

None. Specifically:

No personal information. StorePeek never asks for, receives or stores your name, email address, or any other identifying detail.
No browsing history. The extension cannot read any page until you grant access, and it only ever reads the tab you are actively inspecting.
No analytics or telemetry. There is no tracking code of any kind in the extension.
No accounts. There is nothing to sign up for.
No transmission. Scan results are shown to you and cached on your own device. They are never sent anywhere.

Information stored on your device

So the panel can work smoothly, StorePeek saves a small amount of data using Chrome's local storage. This never leaves your computer, and you can erase it at any time.

The results of your most recent scan, so the panel can restore them when you switch tabs.
A list of up to ten recently scanned store addresses, shown on the extension's home screen. You can delete this at any time with the Clear button.

Uninstalling the extension removes all of it.

Network requests

StorePeek makes no requests to us or to any third party. To read a store's payment methods and catalog stats, it requests a few of that same store's own public pages — its product list, sitemap and cart page (for example /products.json) — requests that go to the store you are already visiting, exactly as your browser would if you opened those pages yourself. No other requests are made.

Links shown in results are ordinary links — to the Shopify App Store, a theme vendor's site, or a platform's public ad-transparency library (such as the Meta Ad Library). Nothing is sent when the results are displayed; a link only opens if you choose to click it. Some vendor links may in the future be affiliate links that earn StorePeek a commission at no cost to you; if that is ever active, a disclosure is shown inside the extension. Affiliate links are ordinary links and transmit nothing about you or your browsing.

Permissions

Permission	Why it is needed
`activeTab`	Read the public content of the page you are inspecting — only after you invoke the extension.
`scripting`	Run the local detection routine on that page, including reading the store's own public product list and cart pages.
`storage`	Keep your latest results and recent-store list on your device.
`sidePanel`	Show results in Chrome's side panel.
Host access (optional)	Off by default. If you turn on “Always allow on stores”, StorePeek can scan as you browse instead of you invoking it each time. Shopify stores run on their own custom domains, so Chrome can only offer all-sites access — detection still runs locally and still sends nothing anywhere.

Children

StorePeek is a tool for people working with online stores and is not directed at children under 13. It collects no data from anyone.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the revised version will be posted on this page with a new date. Any feature that would transmit data will always be optional and clearly explained before it is enabled.
