These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the Calxo mobile app (“Calxo”, “we”, “us”). By using Calxo, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please don’t use the app.
Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country) to use Calxo. By using the app you confirm that you meet this requirement.
Your account
Calxo creates an anonymous account for you automatically so your data can be saved and synced — no email is required to start. You may optionally add an email and password to secure and recover your account. You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your login details safe.
Subscriptions, free trial, and billing
Calxo offers an optional paid subscription (“Calxo Premium”) that unlocks the AI features (photo scan, voice logging, the AI coach, and AI meal plans). We offer a 3-day free trial; if you don’t cancel before the trial ends, the subscription automatically renews and your payment method is charged at the then-current price.
Current pricing is $6.99 per month or $49.99 per year. Prices may vary by region and are shown in the app before you subscribe.
Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. You can manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple App Store or Google Play account settings. Payments, renewals, and refunds are handled by the app store (via RevenueCat) and are subject to the app store’s policies; we generally cannot issue refunds directly. Prices and features may change; we’ll tell you about material changes in advance where required.
Health and nutrition disclaimer
Calxo is a tracking and informational tool, not a medical device and not a provider of medical, nutritional, or professional advice, diagnosis, or treatment. The calorie, macro, and other figures it shows are estimates.
Do not rely on Calxo for medical decisions. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional before making changes to your diet, exercise, fasting, or health routine — especially if you are pregnant or nursing, under 18, or have a medical condition or history of disordered eating.
AI features and accuracy
Calxo’s AI features estimate nutrition from photos and descriptions, transcribe voice, and generate coaching replies and meal plans. To provide these, the relevant content you submit is sent to our AI provider (OpenAI). These outputs can be inaccurate or incomplete. Use your own judgment and verify important information.
Acceptable use
You agree to use Calxo only for lawful, personal purposes, and not to misuse, disrupt, reverse-engineer, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the app or its systems, or to submit content that is unlawful or that infringes others’ rights.
Your content
You keep ownership of the data and photos you add to Calxo. You grant us the limited permission needed to store, process, and display that content in order to provide the service to you — including sending it to our AI provider for analysis and to food and recipe databases to answer your searches, as described in our Privacy Policy.
Intellectual property
Calxo, including its software, design, and branding, is owned by us and protected by law. These Terms don’t grant you any rights to our trademarks or content except to use the app as intended.
Third-party services
Calxo relies on third-party services such as cloud hosting (Supabase), an AI provider (OpenAI), food and recipe databases (Open Food Facts, USDA FoodData Central, and Spoonacular), a subscription platform (RevenueCat), and the Apple App Store or Google Play. Your use of those services through Calxo may also be subject to their own terms.
Termination
You may stop using Calxo and delete your account and its data at any time from within the app. We may suspend or end your access if you violate these Terms or if we discontinue the service.
Disclaimers
Calxo is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We don’t warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that its estimates will be accurate.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Calxo and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any health outcomes, arising from your use of the app. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us, if any, in the 12 months before the claim.
Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes we’ll update the effective date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continuing to use Calxo after changes means you accept them.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of your place of residence to the extent required, and otherwise by the laws applicable where the app is operated, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules.
